Postage stamps reach a wide national audience and are effective tools for highlighting our rich history as well as commenting on current issues. This stamp set deals with homeless individuals in America having their identities erased. Each stamp features a cultural icon who was of pivotal importance to their field, and also experienced homelessness at some point in their life. The purpose of these stamps is to start a conversation about who the homeless are and, like the featured individuals, who they can become when they are seen as people rather than a problem. The illustrations for the stamps were created by erasing portraits from a charcoal-covered surface to highlight the issue of erased identities.
